I have worked in a wide area of woodwork and construction for over 30 years now. I am now semi retired and am looking for jobs to keep me busy and earn some still needed income.
I did a two year College as a Wood Machinist, with emphasis on furniture making, in Sweden in the early 70's. Here I gained competence in hand tools as well as industrial machinery and
I worked for a while in
a small firm doing a wide variety of work.
Got into other things
for some years and travelled a lot. I lived in Denmark, and Los
Angeles, South Africa, back to Sweden for a couple of years and off
to Great Britain.
I have a fairly comprehensive experience in construction and woodworking as I have worked as a Joiner, Cabinet maker, on site carpenter, kitchen fitter (including plumbing, electrical work, gas and tiling), Bathroom fitter, roofer and even the occasional restoration of antique furniture.

I have mainly done
bespoke cabinet work or joinery. I have fitted over 100 kitchens and
have built from scratch at least 10 kitchens.
I have often worked for
wealthy clients with special requirements and high expectations on
quality.
I have a good knowledge
of a wide variety of materials and technical solutions, and can be
inventive and resourceful in finding a solution to a specific
problem.
I have the attitude
that anything can be done, and my reservations are more in the
amount of work or cost it will take, rather than, that it can't be
done.
I am not the fastest
one, but consider myself to be in the top 10% of tradesmen when it
comes to skill and quality of work.
I'm a bit “Old
School” in that I believe that a job well done is more important
than the earnings from a specific job. I do not see the point in
cutting corners. The difference in cost to making a proper job and
one of cutting corners, is only about 20%, so why not make it
properly in the first place.
This has resulted in
many customers coming back again and again, as they feel they can
trust me to do a good job for them.
I do not at the present
have access to a professional workshop, so am limited to work I can
do on site. I have a full set of tools and portable machines, to do a
fair bit still.
As for my rates... for larger jobs I would most likely give a quotation. For smaller jobs I am looking to be compensated around £30.00 per hour. For regular work, such as for a builder, I might be willing to negotiate a lower rate.
